Government funding boosts computer literacy skills in
our community
Western Australians who
have never, or hardly ever, used a computer before have
been able for the first time in their lives acquire basic computer literacy skills
thanks to the Western Australian Government’s First
Click computer courses.
Our organisation did
received a grant from the Western Australian Department
of Education and Training to deliver First Click
training to 100 people in 2003/4.
First Click
showed people how to use a computer, send emails and
access information on the internet.
*********************
We hope to be able to
offer more First Click training in the near
future. Past
participants found the First Click
program helped them gain access to the vast resources of knowledge
and information on the Internet and improved their
training and employment opportunities.
First Click
training is free to people who are from regional areas,
seniors, women aged 40 to 54 not in employment, youth,
people who are disabled, indigenous or people for whom
English is not their first language.
